Are You a Writer? How Do You Know?

I've been watching a lot of interviews of famous indie authors and traditional authors. And one of the most common questions asked by the interviewer is, "Did you ever have any doubt about being a writer?"

And all of them said yes. Some even said that after they made the best seller's list they were still comparing themselves to other great writers.

I wasn't sure I was a writer until last night. And this after having published 6 books already. This wasn't what drew me to the conclusion that I was a writer. I looked back to when I was about eleven and realized that I was always day dreaming. I would even daydream in school the minute the subject the teacher was speaking about became boring.

I love to sleep. I've trained myself to take daily naps since I entered my twenties. They are a great source of my creative bank.

As I matured so did my flights into my fantasy world. My mind remained in a constant state of constructing an imaginary world where I was rich, or I had superhuman powers, or I was from another planet.

Even now, while just past 60, I can sit and stare at a plant and come up with a book idea. This would probably explain why, over the past 18 months, I have published 12 publications and drafted 180 titles.

Yes, I'm a writer. And over time I hope to become a great writer like King, Rowling, Carpenter, and Hocking.
