No More Excuses!

Last year I struggled to complete 5 books, one of which had a Halloween launch date. I already knew I work well under pressure but was it necessary?

Looking back in hindsight I found myself making a lot of excuses as to why I was struggling. Some valid and some silly:

1. I was working an over night shift and when I came home I slept half the night away. I would only be able to write 2 hours a day and the bulk of it was done on my two days off.

2. I changed jobs that required a grueling 5 week training program where I sometimes wouldn't get home until 10:30 pm only to be up at 5 a.m.

3. Family demands.

4. Noisy neighbors

5. My office space is too small (I know...that's the silly one lol)

But when I took a moment of pause I recall a writer's words during one of his interviews "If you think this is easy; think again!"

And it's not going to get any easier as I continue to write. The books I'm working on now are becoming more complex and is requiring me to put more work in than I have in the past. And what I've decided to do in the future is to maintain the "happy happy" feeling i have when I write. To stay focus and tune out the distractions.

But most of all I need to remember the reward at the end of the road. That wonder feeling you get when you see your book published and shared with the world!
