So Call Me Crazy

A lot of my friends in real life and on social media asks me what books do I like to read, or have read. I proudly tell them...NONE! I have a lot of favorite authors that I respect and admire but have I bought any of their books? Not one.

I've seen their work on the silver screen. That's enough for me. Will I read their works in the future? Probably when I'm through writing my books and I'm sitting on a beach sipping on a non alcoholic beverage.

So why don't I read books? Well I need to clarify that. I do read technical books relative to my art or trade. Mostly writing or publishing related.

Now back to your question. The reason why I don't read any other writer's works is because my mind is like a two year old child. I don't want my creative process to be unduly influenced by another writers style.

I know what you're going to say. Oh yea? What about this Mr. Originality? When you read any book that I've basically done a remake of the original, you'll find it's a TOTALLY different new twist to it "thank you very much Mr/Mrs Smarty Pants" lol...Going to have to change that one to 2020.

Selfish? Narcissistic? I don't think so. I just want my readers to know that when they read one of my books, they will not turn a page and say, "Oh this reminds me of Stephen King, Tom Clancy, or J Edgar Hoover."
